Finally! 3.3.3 is here!
The Achievement Kennel Club is your official weekly, obsessive-compulsive, minipet showcase. Brought to you by Aeolyn and Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuits.
Finally! 3.3.3 is here (and they retextured my Shattered Hand Warhound! Seriously.) and with it my past few weeks worth of pet updates are available to us all. Pet Bombling, Lil' Smoky, Blue Clockwork Rocketbot. If you haven't caught 'em all already then this is your reminder. I've tracked mine down and they're sooooo flippin' cool. Although I wish both versions of the rocket bot didn't show up with the exact same name in the pet tab. Kind of irks me.
But enough about them! Earlier in the week I downloaded a cute little pirate RTS game on the PS3 called Age of Booty (Hehe. Booty.) and it put me in kind of a piratey mood so this week's pet is the holy grail of pets you have to slaughter a ton of lowbie mobs to see. The Hyacinth Macaw.
- What is it? A pain in the ass. It shares a model and tab icon with the much more common and easier to obtain Green Wing Macaw, Cockatiel, and Senegal. It also looks NOTHING LIKE THE REAL BIRD. ARRGGGgghhhhh...!!!
- How do I get one? The source of these birds would be the Bloodsail Pirates in the southern part of Stranglethorn Vale. The drop rate off the pirates is considered by some to be about 1 in 5000 and others insist its more along the lines of 1 in 10,000. A test of luck, determination, or finding it on the auction house for a price that won't make you cry...which I suppose is also a matter of luck. If you don't want to screw up your rep with the Bloodsail for some reason; use an alt to slaughter the pirates. A fresh Death Knight straight out of their starting zone is perfect. Though I'd consider reaching level 61 for Path of Frost. Perfect for running from boat to boat and killing everyone in your way.
- Why is it awesome? For a long time this pet has been something of a mark of pride among pet collectors. Aside from making people in Dalaran /spit on you for having one flying about next to you it honestly isn't that exciting. It doesn't look particularly flashy and doesn't do anything fun or interesting. It is, though, the very definition of a collector's item. You just have to be perhaps a certain level of crazy to want it bad enough to get it. Of course I have one!
