My Hardest Achievement Earned:
I would have to say hands down that the hardest achievement that I personally experienced in this wonderful game of World Of Warcraft had to have been Mimiron's "Firefighter" achievement. I was on Arathor server with a guild called "Window Lickin' Good" and we were grinding each week the meta achievements for the Rusted Proto-Drake. Bare in mind we were doing these achievements whilst they were brand new and we were just geared enough to get through most of these fights, let alone getting them done on "hard mode" so to speak. So regardless we had been trying for "Firefighter" for weeks now, spending 4 hour sessions twice a week for 3 weeks just banging our heads against the wall trying every strategy we could muster up. We didn't like to watch strats on the fights because we felt it was somewhat cheating. I have to say that when we got that fight over with it was probably the most gratifying moment we as a group of friends, IRL and digital we, and especially myself had ever experienced. (A funny back story to this achievement I am gonna let you in on even though it was and is still extremely embarrassing was this...I LOVE collecting...pets, gear sets, mounts, you name it. So I am sitting in Stormwind one day and this is just when the card game mounts became purchasable through auctions and other players selling them. So I see this spam for the ultimate Spectral Tiger Mount in trade and I just about flip my lid....I send this toon a tell on how much...I should have known! So he asks how much gold I have....I say 10k, he says perfect, trade me the gold and I will send you to the website where you fill out the information to get the code...(I know right)...so being the compulsive idiot I am I go to the page and type in my info and BAM!..."why am I logged out?!!!" I totally get hacked and they take everything I have on my toon, my bank alt with 5 pages of stocked mats, old world and new world...EVERYTHING! They did make a level 1 toon with the name "Have Fun" though, which I thought was just a lovely little extra poke to my gaming heart. Devastated...took me another 3 weeks to get back everything I lost, and about 15 GM tickets to restore what was lost...and I still didn't get it all back...what a lesson that was! And yes if you are wondering I have an authenticator now...lol. So after we get Mimiron down the guild all tells me...Alright Mugmanimus, you owe us all a spectral tiger mount for our help in getting that achievement for you...ugh! My 5v5 team was even called "WTS Spectral Tiger...PST") So all in all I have to say that that was the most costly and exhausting achievement to date.
The Easiest Achievement Earned:
For some reason even the easiest things come at a high price. This achievement was done pretty close to the opening of achievements to begin with. It is the all-mighty "Going Down" achievement, where you have to fall 65 yards without dying. So everyone is trying out all these achievements and just like lemmings, once one person gets one achievement the others have to follow suit. So I see my friends and guild mates getting this achievement and I start asking..."Hey guys, where's the best place to do this?" and one of my buddies tells me there is a cliff just high enough in Terrokar Forest where you can get it done. "You just gotta mount up, jump out and dismount in the air and fall to the ground at this one spot." So I am like..."sounds easy enough." I think I died about 35 times at that one spot before decided that "Maybe, I don't know...I should try a different spot" After about 300 gold in repair bills later I got my achievement. I'm a slow learner I guess...ha-ha!
The Funnest Achievement Earned:
This one goes down in the books still as probably the funnest I have ever had while doing the dreaded Arena matches. So my best friend and roommate...also the contributor to this addiction I now have called WoW decides he wants to partner up with me to teach me to be a better PVP'r and arena opponent. One of his first toons was a Warlock and he had mastered the class pretty well, so when I joined the game he insisted on having me become a warlock as my first toon so he could guide me along my progression. So we partner up as a double Destro Warlock DPS 2's team..."Stun em, fear em, burn em" as fast as we could...I was just getting into the whole other aspect of this game which is PVP. So we went in to it without expectations what so ever. We just wanted to start getting arena points so we could buy some better gear and what not. Match after match goes on and we are starting to feel a groove going...it's like when you take someone golfing for the first time and they haven't had any experience or time to start critiquing themselves and they are smacking the ball down the fairway with the greatest of ease. Or when you are playing poker and you get someone new to the game who doesn't play in an orthodox manner so you can't read them well and end up losing your whole stash to them...ha-ha. Anyways we start winning match after match after match, I have some PVP gear, my counterpart is in all PVE gear. We are coming up against comps that we shouldn't be beating, Pally, Rogue teams...Priest, Mage teams...compositions that we just in our minds thought would be totally impossible for us squishies to take out. But we were doing it...we had no strategy, like retarded kids with nuclear weapons were were just melting faces! It was A-mazing! We ended up getting 16 wins in a row! And that my fellow players and gaming colleagues is how I achieved "Hot Streak." We are still the only two in our guild with that achievement...we boast on that one to our guildies to this day...he he.
