Get That Achievement

Hello all!
I'm Skorne, a Night Elf rogue PvP junkie who will be starting up a column discussing all things PvP. To kick things off I thought I would do a quick post outlining a bunch of easy PVP achievements that you may want to pursue. Personally I didn't plan to pursue Achievements before I heard about PvP achievements. But now once I started I can't stop! And I recently got my 50,000 Honor Kill Achievement.
How far you choose to take your achievement hunt is up to you and its pretty easy to underestimate the agony value of some of the achievements out there, but if you are keen on getting a few quick PvP achievements under your belt that require minimal effort check out the ones listed below
An Honorable Kill -

"Achievement junkie," "Achievement whore," "no-life gamer." I have been called all these and more, and the simple reason is I have almost double the achievement points of any of my friends (8500 almost), and while I may be missing a lot of them, I enjoy going for the ones I can.
My name is iwishiknew. In real life I do Data work for the military, have a server in my room, and am currently planning my geek tatoos. In game I am a warrior tank that is hooked on achievements and running dungeons to get rare drop mounts (got 15000+ rep JUST from the tiger boss in ZG and have yet to see a single drop.) I am leveling a rogue to help with the insane title and trying to find a good guild that does 25 man raids and goes back to finish off Naxx/Maly/ect achievements. I am currently on Nordrassil. I am also a large lore nerd and get my hands on any WoW books I can and spend hours reading wowwiki and other lore sites.
I am currently debating on what type of article I should write, if I want to do a GTA type, a "lore behind", or something else. Feel free to pop into the forums to PM me a suggestion or post in my thread in general chat.
Hey gang, Vyndrian here. This week's GTA I leave in your hands. Pick your poison. Do you choose to align with the brutal Frenzyheart Tribe, or the wussy Oracles? I chose the Frenzyheart because they are amazing. Who cares about green proto-drakes anyway?
If you'll remember, this month's 30-Day GTA is Wintergrasp Veteran. How are you all progressing on that? Are you fighting it out? Losing much? Or are you getting ten honorable kills and then AFKing in the courtyard? Be honest!
That's all for me this week, gang. Next week is a major PvP GTA, so be playing that Wintergrasp to sharpen your skills! Until then!
Is it Monday? If so, Get That Achievement's here to spur your lazy butt into motion! Our good friend Vyndrian picks an achievement, and then you go out and achieve it! What'll it be this week?Hey gang, Vyndrian here. This week's GTA is A Simple Re-Quest. This one is a piece of cake, and if you cannot accomplish it, I weep for you atop my 9,945 achievement points. Just do a single daily quest for five days in a row. That's it. Now, mind you, you must do them within 24 hours of each other. So if you do a daily at 9 am on Monday, but then you don't do a daily until 10 am on Tuesday, it resets. That's how it's tracked. So make sure you do a daily quest in that 24-hour period.
And how is everyone doing on the 30-Day GTA, Wintergrasp Veteran? I got it awhile back but I've been making a renewed effort to play Wintergrasp this month to rack up honor for gems for money for Cataclysm. What do YOU do with all your honor?
That's all for me this week, gang. Please don't forget that for us living in the USA, Daylight Savings Time begins this coming Sunday! We lose an hour of sleep! So get out there and make the most of the time you have! Until next week!
Is it Monday? If so, Get That Achievement's here to spur your lazy butt into motion! Our good friend Vyndrian picks an achievement, and then you go out and achieve it! What'll it be this week?
Hey gang, Vyndrian here. This week's GTA will be about fishing! Changes to the game a few months ago made it possible to fish anywhere with any skill level. So go sit by the Dalaran fountain, throw back a few Cherry Grog, and get yourself this week's GTA, The Coin Master! See if you can beat my record of two hours from start to finish.
And since it's the start of a new month, why not get a new 30-Day GTA as well? I figure it's about time for PvP to rear its ugly head in here again, so this month's 30-Day GTA is Wintergrasp Veteran! Soon we'll be back in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms fighting for Tol Barad, and Northrend's Wintergrasp will be all but a distant memory. So now's the time to crack down and get those wins. And don't come crying to me if your server is unbalanced! Win all by yourself! Make it happen!
All right, that's all for me this week, gang. I'm still running around trying to talk to Lunar Festival elders before time runs out. Perhaps an Arthas kill this week as well. We'll see! Until next week!
E-mails can be sent to ...

Hey gang, Vyndrian here. The Bread Winner is this week's GTA. Get 10,000g from quest rewards. Easy enough, right? Then you can use that money to buy yourself a pretty ring, perhaps the Ring of the Kirin Tor? That's right, hardcore folks, I want you to buy the ring priced at 6,800g. Don't worry, a second hearthstone is more than worth it.
Step Into The Arena. In the GTA game that I host on the WoW Achievement forums (almost up to 350 pages now!), I let players ask not to be assigned certain areas. For instance, "Nothing too grindy please," or "nothing from rep tab plz." Far and away the most unrequested area is arena. I get it. People who don't PvP never arena, and even those who do BGs tend to shy away from arena. If you're into arena, you're generally VERY into it.
But I say what gives? Sure, arena games are the greatest source of frustration for me in WoW. I have never sworn in my life like I do after three or four matches. The only other time I've physically thrown my keyboard across the room was during the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.
However, as the sole inventor and creator of Get That Achievement, I can say with authority that the whole point of the game (aside from having fun), is to stretch your boundaries in the game and try to attain goals even you wouldn't have set for ...

The other thing I want to do this week is unveil my new GTA idea: The 30-Day GTA! There are so many achievements that I can't assign for people to do in a weeks' time since they require a lot of time or hard work or just plain grinding. That's why I'll be doing the 30-Day GTA. At the start of every month I'll be naming an achievement that must be completed within the month. And this month's GTA is 25,000 Honorable Kills! These are easy enough to farm. Just play a few Isle of Conquests every day and get into Wintergrasp. Honorable Kills are cheap and don't even require victories to get. Even if you have zero HKs, you can get 25,000 before the month is up. You can easily make 1,000 a day from the strategy I gave you. Just stick near crowds of people and kill kill kill! If you already have this achievement, go for 50,000 or 100,000!
If you prefer an easy week, go for Don't Look Up in the Pit of Saron. Watch for circles on the ground. As soon as those circles disappear, an icicle will fall. Be out of its way! Might want to get a dedicated group for it, those LFG PuGs are just awful (at least mine are, every last one of 'em).
If you want a challenge this week, go for Boned! (10 player). That's right, you heard me. I threw you a raid achievement. This isn't your mother's GTA. But seriously, unless you do 500 DPS and wear cloth as a Ret paladin, or you're a hunter who never uses his pet because "it's just gonna die anyway," this achievement isn't hard. Get your friends and guildies and go do it. It counts towards the new frost wyrm mounts!
Okay, that's it. Have a safe week, enjoy your pugs (I see plenty of people with them already). Don't forget to visit my thread Get That Achievement! for more GTA goodness. And again, my e-mail is vyndrian at wow-achievements dot com. Now go out there and Get That Achievement!
Hey gang, Vyndrian here. Okay, show of hands. Who actually tried for all the PvP achievements last GTA? Anyone? If you raised your hand, I want you to know I am patting you on the back and also thinking you're silly for raising your hand to a computer screen. This week's GTA will be pretty simple, I think, and I shall preface it with a story. Saturday morning I was experiencing some heart pain, so that evening I went to the ER and they ran some tests, did an ultra-sound, and made me stay overnight. They did some more tests to determine the fraction/detraction rate of my heart or whatever it was. Reaction/mistraction? Something like that. Turns out it was a false alarm and I'm okay. But! As I was sitting there, I went, "I wonder how many players use Heavy Frostweave Bandages these days. I wonder how many used 1,000 Frostweave Cloth just for 10 achievement points?"
Hey guys!
Fun week on this site imo. I'm really happy with how our two extra writers are turning out. The GTA this week was written very well, and I hope a lot of you got into the battlegrounds and tried to get as many achievements as you could!
Not only that, but our mention of Warcraftpets.com got some recognition over on their site by Doobjanka (which has since been replaced by her comment today, boy that girl can talk).
So, I'll be heading to Cape Cod this weekend. Figured I needed a break from WoW for a weekend, as I just hit 80 on my fifth toon last week. However, I want to know what YOU'RE going to be doing this weekend? Working on the GTA? Any achievement you're aiming for? If you need help, write a post, we have about 20 or so people who post on virtually every comment lol, and I love it :)
Have a great weekend!
(oh... and if you haven't gotten a Grunty card yet... December 13th is going to be a good day for you... dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn)
Hey gang, Vyndrian here. Well, I'm excited to say that I got Battlemaster this past week...completely accidentally. I'd been sitting on Defense of the Ancients since February. One day the PvP daily was Strand, so I queued in and got it. So this week's GTA is going to focus on BGs!If you like Warsong Gulch, go for Save The Day. This is very easy to rig if you get a few friends or even some helpful PuGers!
If Arathi Basin is your thing, your task is Overly Defensive. So so difficult, but oh so sweet when you get it. Depending on how badly you do, To The Rescue! might be possible as well.
Like Alterac Valley? Take a stab at To the Looter Go the Spoils. 1/100 chance to get it with every player loot!
How about Eye of the Storm (my least favorite BG)? I'll give you an easy one: Bloodthirsty Berserker. If you're a pacifist or a healer, just do Storm Capper.
And finally, for Strand, I think The Dapper Sapper isn't too much to ask for. You get credit for walls that have already been destroyed, so be absolutely no help to your team and stay on the beach blasting Blue and Green when they're at Yellow. It'll take 10-12 games, depending on how efficient you are.
So there you are! Sort of a Choose Your Own Adventure GTA week, I suppose. Of course, the hardcore ...

I thought I'd mix things up a bit and give you all an option: Easy GTA or Hardcore GTA. If you want an Easy GTA week, get cooking! Your goal is Pilgrim. I expect everyone will be going for this, but if you just want an easy week, pat yourself on the back and take the week off after getting your new title and pet.
However...if you really want to be hardcore (and who doesn't?), you'll take the plunge and go for Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box. Fish in Highland Mixed Schools in Terrokar Forest (Blackwind Lake in Skettis, Lake Jorune above Stonebreaker, and Lake Ere'Noru above Allerian Stronghold) and hold your breath. I've heard reports that they increased Mr. Pinchy's drop rate post-3.0, so get this achievement out of the way so you can focus on the new fishing contest coming out!
Well, that's all for this week. In the coming weeks, I plan on adding screenshots or short videos to further guide GTAers, and I'll see if I can't bug Mep into giving me an e-mail account on the website too, so I can have you guys ...

Hey everyone!
So, I know I said I was going to have a new writer for GTA this week, sadly he's sick with the swine flu or something, so I'm just kinda pulling this one out of the air.
They Love Me In That Tunnel. This is an easy enough achievement that you can do it with one day's worth of grinding. Give it a shot! It's one of the easier reputations to grind out.
Mep

Hey everyone!
Sorry for the late update today. Been pretty busy.
So, I figured out why the achievement icons on the profile pages haven't been showing up properly. I'm not going to bother fixing this quite yet, but will be fixing it with the revamp of the website.
This week's GTA is Master of Arms.
It's a REALLY easy achievement, but because it takes a little bit of time to do, a lot of people forget about it.
I have some GREAT news!
For those of you who've been to the official WoW forums, you may have seen Vyndrian, Moon Guard - US doing his Get that Achievement game, which Monday posts are roughly based off of.
He has volunteered to be in charge of the GTA on Monday mornings, making him our first volunteer writer for WoW-Achievements. Which I'm excited about :)
Which... is one of the ideas I have for the new website layout. If things go well, I'll be asking for some volunteer writers to help fill this site out a bit. If you have a good idea, and are willing to write for the site, shoot me an e-mail, mep @ wow-achievements dot com. You might just get to have your articles read by several thousand people a day :) (Good experience for wanna-be journalists, as websites are a usable reference for trying to get a job.)
Anyway, gotta get back to the RL.
This week's GTA should be fairly obvious.
Hallowed Be Thy Name - Alliance
Hallowed Be Thy Name - Horde
You can find guides to every part of it, here.
Check the below post of the winner of the weekend Grunty Contest :)
So this week's GTA is the hardest of all the Halloween Achievements. Sinister Calling.
To get this achievement you need to get
Sinister Squashling
Hallowed Helm
You can get it either from killing the Headless Horseman, or from getting lucky and finding it in a Treat Bag or Crudely Wrapped Gift.
Pretty easy, but totally reliant on RNG.
Good luck!
Also, there has been a bug announced related to the Candy Buckets in Northrend.
We are currently experiencing an issue with the Hallow's End candy buckets that is affecting the Trick or Treat Achievements for this event. Certain candy buckets in Northrend, once looted, are preventing characters from looting some of the Candy Buckets required for the Trick or Treats of Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands. The current way to work around this is to get the candy buckets from Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Outland before doing any in Northrend.
Note, doing the Achievements first will prevent some of the Northrend Candy Buckets from being intractable.
We are actively working on a resolution for this and will provide more information when it is available.
Update: At this time please do not submit an in-game ticket on this issue, doing so will not result in a faster resolution as we are still working on the issue and will provide more information when it is available. Thank you.
P.S. If you think of it while in game, take a couple of Halloween Screenshots! Submit them to WoW-Screenshots ...

Hello all!
Welcome to Monday! I just woke up (it's 9:44 a.m.) gotta love days off from work amirite?
My records show about 62% of people have the achievement The Keymaster, that's not THAT many... and it's certainly something that people may put off over and over again being as how it's a bit of a pain.
So.... go out and do it :)
Here's a guide provided by our friends over at Warcraft Overachiever
As for other news, over on MMO-Champion there is a post about a new non battle pet that we'll be getting (if you have a battle.net account). Which you really should at this point... (If you don't, you won't be able to play after November 12th).

This week's GTA is Grand Master Cook.
Now, this is an achievement that I'd be willing to bet, most of you have... however, Pilgrim's Bounty, and Winterveil both have cooking quests associated with them, which will require a minimum of 350 cooking. So, technically all you'd need to do is get 350, but then you wouldn't be an achiever would you?
-------------------
On a side note, only three more days (including today) to get your entries in for the Violet Proto-drake contest. I will accept entries until 11:59 p.m. on October 7th. Good luck! Been some great entries so far.

Figured I'd go PvP this week and choose Vehicular Gnomeslaughter.
This achievement requires you to kill 100 players in Wintergrasp using a vehicle or a cannon.
Shouldn't be too hard to do over the course of a week, amirite?
As for the "new change" I told you guys about last week, it's well underway but needs some time before I can make it live.
Sorry for the short post this morning, busy day ahead of me :)
P.s. There are no achievements for the Harvest Festival, and the Harvest festival is NOT the Pilgrim's Day

Some of you may wonder why I didn't make it What A Long, Strange Trip Its Been. Well, I figured EVERYONE needs this achievement, despite if they are going to be able to get their proto-drake or not. Thus... I want you to get your Brewmaster title.
Good luck :)
Also, we've had a bit of a collaboration of best running paths for Ram Racing. If you've got a good path, go ahead and post it. Submit pictures or whatever you'd like, feel free to e-mail them to me at mail @ wow-achievements.com and I'll put them up for you :)
ALSO! Don't forget about our CONTEST to win a "Grunty the Murloc Marine!"
You can see some of the entries here
Saturday is International talk like a pirate day! In Azeroth this is celebrated with The Captain's Booty.
This can't be done until the end of the week, so to tide you over, I'd like to take you guys out of the old world from last week, and take you into the cutting edge of the new content. So this week, I want you to do Upper Back Pain (10) or (25) man whichever you'd like :)
Good luck!
To finish up here... I want you to know that I have something VERY special planned for Sunday... I haven't forgotten about Brewfest and what we'll finally be able to get from it... but that will be being announced Wednesday.
Hey there everyone!
It's GTA time. This week... I want to take you back to Burning Crusade, to a little hell hole known as ... Sunwell Plateau.
Now, there are a lot of you (myself included) that never got this one done. Be it too much of a gear check before Wrath finally hit, or maybe you just weren't a hard core raider yet. Or in my case, we only got about halfway through it before Wrath finally launched. Either way, get in there and get this achievement... maybe you'll finish off your Outland Raider achievement while your at it!
Keeping with our big news of all our new guides, I figured I'd give it a test drive with this week's GTA.
This week, I want you to pay homage To All The Squirrels Who Shared Your Life.
Make sure to check out the associated guide :) It's a good one!

Hello all!
This week's GTA is going back to the battlegrounds... based on some encouraging words from my buddy Mugs, I decided to do a pretty tough one... any casual player will probably have a tough time with this one, and even people who PvP daily may not have this achievement.
Give it your best!
Bound for Glory
As an alternative, if you were at Blizzcon, you can also GTA The Marine Marine. Either one will be great!
I have a crap load of things to post from the convention this weekend, but I will have to do it later tonight. Enjoy your GTA for the day and check in around 10 p.m. EST tonight, or tomorrow morning for a big update with my thoughts, experiences, and A CRAP LOAD of pictures.

Hey all!
Happy to be back. My gut still hurts a bit, but I've been off my pain meds for a few days now. Thanks for those that sent me well wishes :)
So this week! I've got a couple things for you. Obviously I'm going to Blizzcon on Wednesday, so there will be some AWESOME updates coming during the event, and TONS more after! I'm bringing both camera (I have a really nice camera so expect some good shots) and video camera, and I have a press pass so make sure to check here often for some behind the scenes things you won't get from your casual blogs :)
More about that in another post though.
This week's GTA is The Faceroller. I found myself in H:ToC today and saw that this achievement was available. Although I didn't get it done (I was with a pug group... you know how that goes), I hear it's pretty easy, but at the time I had NO clue how to do it!
I asked around, and essentially he will toss his Hammer of Justice at you, and you need to dispel that person. If you get the dispel off before he casts Hammer of the Righteous the targeted person will be able to catch the hammer and throw it back at him.
I've seen people claiming that they killed him with as much as 30k health left, but from what I've seen, the ...

Personally, I blame patch 3.2, as I STILL have yet to get to play with it to the extent I'd like to. I got about 3 hours in one night and that's about it.
So, as Blizzcon is next week, you can expect to see a new post on Monday and Tuesday but then probably just a bunch of posts FROM the con. I also have the new Blackberry Storm, just got it less than a week ago and I'll be able to post pictures and videos from the convention, (I'm also able to view responses that you guys send me on the blog posts) I'm also planning on bringing my Nikon with me to get some GOOD photos as well as a small video camera. I'm going all out on this :)
I got my little schedule from Blizzard about what they are doing for the fan sites before the convention, looks like I'm going to be getting a tour of Blizzard HQ which ...

This weeks GTA is going back old school. I want you to run, and clear Molten Core. This is an easy achievement for 80's and is a fun time waster on an off night.
Let me know how it goes!
I got a couple complaints about last week's achievement being a bit too hard... no problem. I chose a completely different angle with this week's GTA. I want everyone to get Step Into The Arena.
This achievement requires you to go hop in the Arena and win a single match... a lot harder than it sounds actually. I tried 16 rounds to win, and still haven't... given I have ZERO pvp gear besides the trinket, but I think it's important that PvEers give Arena a chance.
I tried to record a video, but it hit 1 a.m. and I have to go to my real job in about seven hours.
Post here if you get yourself the achievement! I'm interested in if people are taking these challenges seriously :)

Hello everyone!
I have a new format for these blog posts that I'd like to try out. We are going to have a different theme for every day. For example:
Monday is going to be, "Get that Achievement!" where I pick out an achievement and challenge you to get it during the course of the week.
Obviously some people will already have certain achievements so if you have it already, go do it on an alt! No excuses!
During this time, I want to see Fraps videos / write up of strategies / general things you've learned about the achievement. Let's use these opportunities to beef up the achievement guides!
(I will be adding achievement commenting by tomorrow night)
So, without any further ado,
This week: Less-Rabi
Description: Defeat Moorabi in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty while preventing him from transforming into a mammoth at any point during the encounter.
When you've completed this achievement, leave a comment telling us so! Don't forget to Fraps yourself getting the achievement, as it's a great way to show off not only you're leet dps (you'll need it for this one) but also your group makeup and even your video skills!
Good luck!
